Sorry to go back to Bg but I'm convinced Louis team was intending to let it fade into irrelevance until nobody remembered it until B's sugar daddy exposed her and he/his team did what they always do and overreact instead of using it and backdating the whole thing they went in the opposite direction and pushed to try and cover up the fact he had nothing to do with the kid for years. Yeah, I agree that Boobgate seemed to be the turning point. I don't think it was entirely an overreaction because they could have course-corrected if so. They haven't yet and it's been two years at this point. I really think there's some kind of legal issue he's trying not to get caught in. There's no way Sony would take the fall if the truth came out. It would all fall on Louis.

I'm not an attorney, but from what I can understand, falsely claiming to be a parent on a birth certificate can lead to serious legal consequences. This is not to say he is stuck forever. But I think he needs to establish that he THOUGHT he was Freddie's dad for a long enough time to then have a DNA test and prove that he's not, but he can't appear to have known the whole time.

i posted about this before, but let me (as a journalist irl) elaborate what's likely going on with daniel!!

when no one asked dan about his future during press day last week, we all automatically recognized this was probably the result of an embargo (we have quite a few f1 fans in the newsroom). stranger still that christian horner was in the TP conference and didn't speak on it either. we had expected that combo to make a sort of joint announcement.

so what's an embargo/how does it work?

essentially, it's when a source gives you any information ahead of time, but requests you do not publish anything on it until a certain date and time. this can be done for a lot of reasons. embargoes usually request that you refrain from sharing information from a press release or document.

usually embargoes are put in place so essentially you keep to your time table of when the information becomes "public," but news outlets aren't left scrambling because they have already written their story and have it ready to go live as soon as it's acceptable. in the case of f1 this also applies to instagram posts and things like that. that's why you'll often see the posts go live straight away when an announcement is made; everything's pre-confirmed & pre-written, they're just waiting for the green light.

if you violate an embargo in sports journalism, you'll likely have your credentials to, say, get into the press pen revoked. you/your outlet will no longer receive any privileged information. and you'll likely be asked to take it down. not for any legal reason -- you're just burning a bridge and violating trust. so this info COULD be leaked, but under the honor system, it rarely is. (especially bc if you post embargoed info & ruin your org's reputation with the source, you're probably losing your job.)

so what's going on in DR's case?

most likely, all credible sources have either A) been given the information under an embargo, or B) been told the time they can expect an embargoed press release. (i work with law enforcement, so for me this is usually just something like "you can expect the records to be sent out before dinner time friday night but it will be embargoed till 9 a.m. when they're officially public record.")

either way, everyone has probably been warned off asking those questions, but they also likely already know the answer. whatever they received, even if it doesn't reveal all the cards, most likely said daniel would not answer questions prior to the official release time and essentially, don't bother.

what's up with all the rumors?

essentially, when every credible source has their hands tied, there's no one to counter all the randoms. we see it all the time -- people yapping trading theories when we actually know what happened and can't say. unfortunately in f1 some of the randoms have some sort of name recognition -- and for some reason there are like 500 completely not credible news outlets full of untrue shit. so right now, they are the only people 1) free to bang on with theories and 2) who dont either have the info or know when the info is coming available. so that's allowing them to take up all the space.

conclusion: this isn't necessarily good or bad, but explains why we're hearing so many irrelevant people's opinions on this and not hearing anything from VCARB, daniel or his team. it was most likely done to give preferred sources the jump on announcing the news, but also to allow daniel to focus.

i'm assuming the embargo will be lifted monday morning european time, but we may hear a vague denial this weekend as theres probably some building frustration (like daniel saying yeah you'll see me in COTA or whatever).

I kind of hate when people will either actively ignore things that happen in Star Trek or are just wrong about it and use their own misconceptions to make the federation seem more utopian than it is because it supports their political opinions.

I recently saw a guy on tiktok saying that he's glad people are turning around on plastic surgery (i.e., becoming more opposed to it) because the real solution tp the problem that plastic surgery treats is restructuring society in a way that removes harmful beauty standards. He goes on to say that an example of this is Jean Luc Picard being bald in TNG. A lot of people ask why they haven't fixed balding in the future. He says they don't need to fix balding because they've gotten rid of the stigma of being bald

I have beef with this for two reasons:

1. I think restricting or further stigmatizing plastic surgery only serves to hurt trans people. I dont actually disagree that working towards a world without harmful beauty standards is a good thing but letting utopian ideas of how things should be get in the way of people bettering their lives in the imperfect world we currently have isn't actually helping anyone. Furthermore people should be allowed to do what they want with their bodies.

2. That's not even true. It would be cool if Jean Luc was bald just because he liked looking that way, but there is plenty of evidence in the show that that stigma still exists. In the episode Bloodlines Picard makes a joke to his fake son about how hid hairline is going to recede soon. In the episode of voyager where Kes is thrown back in time the Doctor has reprogrammed himself to have hair. In Picard season 3 (I personally dislike this season of the show but its cannon so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) Jack Crusher asks Jean Luc what age he started to go bald and Jean Luc is like, sooner than you'd like or something like that. I'm sure there are other examples. These are just off the top of my head.

This is sort of verging into tangent territory, but I personally think even in a world where other people's expectations had no bering on the way people feel about themselves, plastic surgery would still exist. It would exist in a more pure form in which people alter their bodies to bring them closer in line to how they would like to look outside of the view of others. When I was a little kid, the episode Profit and Lace was so intriguing to me in a way that I couldn't really put my finger on why. As a transgender adult, I know it was because I wanted that to happen to me. I obviously realize now that episode is transphobic and kinda misogynist but I still think a utopia in which I can go to a doctor and effortless be transformed to look exactly how I want to with minimal risk is more appealing to me than one in which I cannot.

I've said this many times, but Prema doesn't sound like a done deal either? From all the articles I've seen that have actual statements from Rene Rosin (Prema TP) have seemed rather evasive of the topic? I dont know if this is just me wanting more of a James/Carlos situation where Rosin is actively seeking out Logan, but it seems to me that they aren't actually considering Logan? This might also just be all in the past (most of the articles I've mentioned are from last month or before) because I know there's that one article saying that they've "confirmed" that Logan and Prema are currently in negotiations and they're looking to reach a consensus. hello! i read you primer (which was lovely) and if you dont mind, what makes you think that lando has a high eq? not that i disagree with you but i feel like high intelligence of any kind is not something that is commonly associated with lando (i say this with affection of course) thats why it stood out for me :)

ok not to go off on too much of a tangent but i think something i often encounter in real people fandom is this ig very restrictive perception of "intelligence" when it comes to examining celebrity upbringings and career choices? which i don't think necessarily comes from a malicious place, and i mean obviously a major factor & meaningful context behind lando specifically not finishing school is that he is extremely rich and had major financial security to pursue his dreams, and then on top of that he's definitely prone to saying many impulsive and objectively uninformed things, but...... just as a purely personal philosophy i try to avoid ascribing too much weight to "traditional" notions of intelligence or one's academic success. like i do find it endearing that oscar studied engineering subjects because i did too, but just as an example if you look at oscar it's really like, Well the difference between his education and lando's is frankly MUCH less pronounced than the difference between oscar's and lily's (read: a-level cs is not going to make you a software engineer...), even though people often act like lando is the dumbest person in the world and oscar is some engineering genius. and then furthermore when you examine the actual types of "intelligence" useful to someone becoming a successful racing driver aka the rote memory, technical knowledge, and sheer intuition required for honing race craft and maximizing pure pace around a circuit, lando is just as smart as any driver. or at least that's what i think!!!

also to some degree i really do believe it's smarter to know that you're wasting your time in school if you can be doing something else that will be more fulfilling and is accessible and achievable to you, because doesn't that just afford you extra time to practice and hone your craft and get further with your life? again with lando this was a decision that could only have been made with a massive safety net and undeniable amounts of privilege, Which I Recognize, but just like—idk. i think it's fine to not like school, and even though Lando Norris specifically certainly does not need his academic history defended i try to remain consistent in not moralizing the specific dimensions of someone's intellect.

but anyway!!! that doesn't really have anything to do with eq or your question HKLSDFH i just like overexplaining... in terms of eq, i think it kind of just inherently shows in how lando makes and maintains his friendships honestly, which all goes back to the idea of his empathy. and this is perhaps a bit of a fannish meta oversimplification and obviously everything i say is VibesTM at the end of the day but i do think he's someone who's just incredibly and stubbornly loyal, and that even though some of the things he says come off as callous to fans who examine his intent through the lens of their own ideologies, they're actually usually perfectly fine in the context of his relationships and the general culture of the f1 paddock. like he's been friends with maxf and co since he was a functional baby and is somehow still codependent with these people who aren't actually properly relevant to the sports bubble he occupies at all anymore, and yet that hasn't changed the fundamental makeup of the connections he's made because he just, like... values people.

like tps and mclaren personnel and pretty much every driver on the grid etc. all genuinely LOVE lando, and imo he's very self-aware of how he comes off to fans and does show a lot of grace despite............certain things. like he's not going to always Say The Right Thing in the moment, but he generally understands how people feel about him and why they react to the things he says, which is why he's so effective at both marketing himself and hiring people who can market him better (how many other drivers have built up a branding as strong as ln4 & quadrant before the age of 23!)

the way i see it is essentially that lando's "honesty" is part of his eq. because formula 1 is an entertainment product built off bullshit, but actually successful and healthy and sustainable outfits need honesty and accountability to thrive. and ultimately lando is, at least within a sporting context, a deeply accountable person. Also speaking again of different perspectives of intelligence: for ex mclaren works the way it does because zbrown understands his place, andrea understands his place, and lando and oscar both understand their places!!! like zak brown's savvy is in business so he handles the press conferences even though that's usually the tp's job, and andrea understood that key was ineffective in his role so he retooled the entire engineering triumvirate, and then lando and oscar... work as teammates because they have a productive and collaborative understanding of each other and what they're meant to deliver every week.

idk if that makes sense really. but i think lando takes on a lot of responsibility and clearly cares deeply about the team and is very vocal about that, regardless of whether "he's too scared to be max's teammate" doubters believe it alksdfhlkfdh, and i think this kind of... general refusal to entertain bullshit in a world of bullshit & the fact that he's still friends with daniel and close to maxv and all these people who he's apparently deeply wronged according to certain corners of the internet etc. etc. is a pretty solid reflection of that eq. he doesn't always know what to say but he usually means the right thing, most of the time..... and as much as oscar is clearly mature beyond his years i don't think lando has ever shown an inability to face the heat as the senior driver and team leader at mclaren? like if you watch any recent interviews where he answers technical questions or discusses where mclaren is developmentally or their place in the championship fight he always speaks very well and confidently and measuredly. like IDK. maybe i'm just crazy though. lmk if that makes no sense HDSLFKH sorry for this essay 😔

Because my dash is full of it, I thought I'd give my own 2 cents to the Charles moving to RBR debate.

Short answer: I don't think he should. And he deffinitely won't. Under the cut is why.

First of all, I think everyone is just so so tired of Ferrari at this point that we are blindly hoping for what (we think) would be better for Charles, which at this point seems to be "anything but Ferrari". That is simply not true.

Charles signed with Ferrari for a reason. We know this. We've been saying this. I want everyone to not forget this! So ask yourself what would he gain now from moving teams right when the new regulations are about to start with so many unknowns?

Dreaming about Charles to RBR was fun last year because of Red Bulls dominant car and overall superiority to the rest of the grid. Last year moving to Red Bull was the safest option to get results. Or at least so it seemed. Last year Red Bull had a competent TP that was not in the middle of drama with one of the drivers fathers. At least not publicly. Last year RBR had the fastest car. Last year RBR had 2 more years of nailed regulations. Last year RBR had Adrian Newey.

Now RBR has internal conflicts that rival Alpine, the third fastest car, and, after this season is over, only a year with these regulations left (in which, again, they will not be the fastest car presumably. Fact is? We dont knoe and i wouldnt want him to move for an unknown, would you?), a different engine that frankly does not promise me much, and yeah, last but not least deffinitely not Adrian Newey.

So Charles would essentially be leaving a team that he has grown in, I team that has grown with him, a team that he pulled from the trenches and with his bare teeth from the hole they were buried in after the Binotto era. A team he has said time and time again he has faith in. We have seen him put his faith in. He has been saying this since the beginning of last year and guess what, the team has improved. Say what you will about this triple header, if we take this entire season into account, Ferrari is the second best acting team on the grid. With the fewest mistakes done, with the consistent fast pitstops, with really good strategies (yes, the strategies are amazing this year with some exceptions (2, both in mixed conditions) and if you don't agree you are wrong). Are they perfect? No. But neither are McLaren. Neither is Red Bull.

I get this looks bad. But praying for Charles to go to another team after each misstep is taking it a bit too far I think. Charles is in the perfect position right now team wise. He is in a team that keeps improving on all fronts. An upward curve is an upward curve even if there are some missteps. RBR however is on a downward slope and I can not stress this enough!!!! I don't know how to explain to you that I don't think Charles should be joining a sinking ship right now. I actually think MAX should be running away from Said ship are you kidding me?

What we should be praying for instead is for Ferrari to keep working on their vulnerabilities. Right now they are quite clear - understand the upgrades that make the car undriveable and work on the communication between Charles and the pit wall. (Don't forget this is Bryan's 6th race). Fred is bringing the changes but nothing changes overnight. Huge progress has been made. Let's be a little patient before jumping right onto a sinking ship yeah? Yeah.

Considering Clover actually knew the human children and was very close friends with them, why would they sacrifice themselves then, shouldnt they relationship with the other children have affected their decision? Wouldnt the most logical choice have been spare Ceroba and then go fight Asgore? Also isnt it a bit messed up that Tom and Clover were rooting against the others, even if they didnt know it was them?

Im sorry if i sound like im whining or complaining or saying "erm ackshually🤓" but i dont understand how Clovers relation with the other humans didnt affect their choice at the end of TP and took them in a different path, especially considering that they knew what would happen to the next human and the promise they did to Frisk

It doesnt actually bother me that much, but im curious, also no, i dont have a problem with Clovers sacrifice, i think its a cool scene but in this AU im not sure if it works that well

What exactly could Clover do at that point? He knew the others were already dead. If he freed the souls they would have died for nothing. 

Here's the thing: why did I decide to just make Clover and Tom the only ones that sacrificed themselves in the AU? 

Because if you remember the Family Tree post. They were the ones that had a family before the orphanage. (Also Hope, but she was too young at the time.)

(Also I forgot Melody when I made this post. Good thing no one paid attention to the Family Tree post. I was able to fix it without anyone noticing it.)

Clover and Tom are supposed to be a type of opposite to Chara. They both had good lives before their parents deaths and having to live in the orphanage. But because of that, they know that life isn't black and white. It's grey. Chara just experiences the bad, while Clover and Tom experience both the good and the bad.

And when they sacrificed themselves, they knew that it was too late for the others. In their heads, the thought that they could kill Asgore and take the souls back was a possibility... But would it be fair for the monsters that they befriended along the way? Did monsters like QC, Martlet, Toriel, Starlo, and so on deserve to be trapped for the rest of their lives for the actions of monsters like Asgore? Did they deserve to have their freedom taken away from them? 

They did it for the white side, of the gray that is monster kind. The others were dead. They didn't want to make their deaths for nothing. They saw the kidness in monsters, and they hoped that the kidness that they saw could overtake the hatred if the barrier broke.

But they also sacrificed themselves with the hopes that they could spare one or more of their friends lives if they fell underground. Hoping that some random humans would fall so the monsters could get the 7 souls needed to break the barrier. Clover sacrificed himself in hopes that another human would fall before Frisk. So Frisk wouldn't die. 

There is also the part of Tom helping QC. Tom saw QC as a sibling that wanted nothing more than to help herself and her sister have a normal life. Help the only family she had left. Just like Tom always trying to make the orphanage the best that he could for the others, but especially Hope. His only family that he had left. Tom saw himself in QC. 

Both Clover and Tom were stock in a gray situation. They could save the souls and leave, but leave their monster friends to rot without any hope of freedom. Live underground and risk making their monster friends traidors. Or sacrifice themselves to help their new friends have a chance to see the outside and hope that the other kids aren't the next humans to fall. 

There is no option that every side wins. So they pick the option that they found better.

They weren't rooting against humanity. They were bringing hope to the good in monster kind. And having the hope to spare the others.

I don't know if this made any sense. But I hope you guys could understand my mad ramblings.
